First swimming lesson – essentials

Swimming cap

A swimming cap is not mandatory, but we highly recommend it for people with long hair. It makes exercises in the water easier and helps your hair dry faster after the lesson. If you choose not to wear a swimming cap, it’s a good idea to tie your hair back securely.

Swimsuit

It should be comfortable, preferably a one-piece swimsuit. If your child gets cold easily, a wetsuit is a great option.

Flip-flops

They reduce the risk of slipping and help maintain foot hygiene. They are mandatory for anyone entering the pool area.

Swimming goggles

It’s worth gradually getting used to putting your face underwater without goggles. However, when spending longer periods in chlorinated water, they make swimming much more comfortable.

Towel

We recommend bringing two towels: one to wrap yourself in as soon as you get out of the water, and another to dry yourself thoroughly in the changing room.

Dryer

Most swimming pools have one available, but it may be occupied when there are many people around. It’s worth keeping this in mind.

Snack

Children are often very hungry after swimming lessons, so a small, healthy snack is a great idea.

Remember that some children may feel afraid of the water at first. This is completely natural. It’s important to offer them plenty of support, patience, and understanding. With your encouragement, they will gradually feel more comfortable and confident in their new environment.
